Analyst Co-Op

Position Overview:

The position is based in the Boston office and focuses on research related to asset and wealth management. The position reports into the research department.

The position is ideal for someone who is analytical and quantitatively-oriented, exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills, works autonomously, is adaptable, has a high attention to detail, and seeks to build deep industry expertise.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Build out research lists and transition all lists to CRM
  • Make significant contribution to development of a new database of external research contacts
  • Help conduct survey responses by calling and emailing targeted participants to increase participation
  • Assist in the development and analysis of proprietary surveys, interfacing with Survey Analyst to administer surveys and chart results
  • Schedule research calls and meetings with senior executives, and capture detailed notes
  • Attend research calls with senior executives to build subject-matter expertise
  • Other ad hoc projects as necessary

Qualifications:

  • 0 - 1 year of experience in financial services, preferably in an analytical role; Understanding of asset and wealth management is helpful
  • Strong financial analysis and modeling skills; general understanding of basic investing concepts
  • Knowledge of Qualtrics. SPSS, and common data base tools (g., SQL) is a plus; proficient in Excel
  • Superior quantitative acumen is a must
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze large amounts of data with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong time management skills with ability to meet deadlines, and manage projects
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Capacity to respond productively to feedback and make ongoing improvements to approach and process
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Marketing Associate

Position Overview:

This marketing position is based in the Boston office, and reports into the head of marketing who oversees all marketing-related activity, including media relations, digital strategy, brand design, marketing campaigns, events, and industry conferences. The position’s primary role is to support the team with the management and execution of the marketing calendar. This role will work closely with other members of the marketing team and other departments within the company.

Successful candidates for this position will have a background in marketing and communications, strong attention to detail, positive energy, and a desire to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and execute deliverables planned on the marketing campaign calendar
  • Work closely with editorial teams across offices to ensure timely report release schedule
  • Manage and maintain the integrity of contact level details in the company’s customer relationship management system (CRM)
  • Assist in the maintenance of the company’s marketing automation platform, Marketo
  • Contribute to report marketing materials for all Cerulli reports
  • Regularly post press releases to website and related social media channels
  • Assist in updating company’s social media presence on Twitter and LinkedIn daily
  • Help distribute company press releases and manage press requests

Qualifications:

  • 0-2 years of experience in marketing at a financial services company
  • Working knowledge of the asset management industry is preferred, but not required
  • Outstanding project and time management skills with strong attention to detail required
  • Ability to multi-task and to change course quickly as needed
  • Experience writing press releases and working with the media, preferred but not required
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Associate Analyst, Product Development

Position Overview:

This analyst position is based in the Boston office, and it reports into the Associate Director responsible for investment product development research. The position’s primary role is to support lead research analysts and collaborate with other members on the product development team to provide quantitative analytical support and written commentary for CA’s retail and institutional asset management research and publishing needs. The position will also work as needed with other practice members across various research teams such as institutional and intermediary.

Successful candidates for this position are hardworking, persistent, enthusiastic, and analytical individuals with a passion for financial services industry research and analysis.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist lead research analysts in the development and analysis of proprietary surveys, interfacing with Survey Analyst to administer surveys and chart results
  • Help develop focused research panels, calling and emailing targeted participants to increase survey participation
  • Support lead research analysts by scheduling research calls and meetings with senior executives, and type detailed notes from the calls
  • Collaborate with other analysts across Cerulli practices on monthly and quarterly publications.
    • Duties include data‐gathering, analysis, chart creation and assembly, and writing commentary
  • Work with Morningstar Direct, eVestment, Preqin as well as other third-party databases
  • Identify opportunities to improve Cerulli’s current data aggregation and analysis processes
  • Help develop and maintain relationships with financial institutions, investment asset managers, industry trade associations, third‐party data vendors, and government agencies
  • Propose and develop new analyses to expand Cerulli’s proprietary research

Qualifications:

  • 0-3 years’ experience in financial services, preferably in a product strategy, product development, product management, research, or analytical role; Understanding of retail and/or institutional distribution channels is helpful
  • Knowledge of both mutual funds and exchange‐traded funds (ETF) vehicles. Preferred knowledge of other investment vehicles (e.g., collective investment trusts, private commingled funds, interval funds, etc.)
  • Understanding of active and passive investment philosophies and processes
  • Outstanding project and time management skills, and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multi‐task and to change course quickly as needed
  • Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate, and analyze sizeable amounts of data
  • Aptitude for synthesizing research, identifying trends, and providing commentary on relevant industry issues
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest in financial‐services‐related market research with an eye toward developing into a Cerulli Report writer
  • Interest in cultivating a network of industry contacts for research purposes
  • Capacity to respond productively to feedback and make ongoing improvements to approach and process
  • Preference is for a candidate with a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or English/journalism

Associate Director, Institutional Markets

Position Overview:

This position is based in the Boston Office in the Institutional practice and reports to the Managing Director, U.S. Research. This position will work with the Director, Institutional and Managing Director, U.S. Research to help set the strategic direction of Cerulli’s research on Institutional markets. The role will also be responsible for managing multiple analysts in the Institutional practice. The practice focuses on trends in Institutional asset management markets, including:

  • Buying habits and preferences of institutions, including defined benefit plans, non-profits, and insurance companies
  • The influence of consultants in the institutional asset management market and strategies for asset managers to work with them
  • Structure of and trends in institutional sales and client service teams, including staffing, structure, and compensation
  • Trends in institutional asset allocation and portfolio construction, including asset class demand

The position offers significant industry exposure, including interactions with senior executives throughout the industry, coverage in industry publications, and potential to present at conferences and events. Successful candidates are hardworking, persistent, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for the financial services industry, and research and analysis.

  • Extensive analysis, data modeling, and writing responsibilities
  • Lead research initiatives for two annual research reports and contribute to the Cerulli Edge quarterly publication

  • Must be analytical and quantitatively oriented
  • Superior writing skills are required
  • Aptitude for synthesizing research, identifying trends, and providing commentary on relevant industry issues
  • Strong attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
  • Ability to effectively work on several projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and work autonomously as well as across teams
  • Proficient in Excel; able to manipulate, and analyze sizeable amounts of data
